The projects want to contribute to releasing self-healing forces by integrating what has been experienced, controlling its paralysing potential and finding a feasible way to be co-creators of one’s own life again.
A given project is always worked out, advanced and further developed directly with the people concerned.
If desired and with the consent of those involved, the group’s creations can also always be given a resonance that goes beyond them.
In any case, there is the option of holding exhibitions, performances, concerts or public events.
Activity
The activities of Art Against Pain include interdisciplinary, intercultural and interactive projects, workshops, thematic discussion groups and lectures.
- Art Against Pain is a place for artists and art therapists to come together and collect a wide variety of project ideas: a pool of artists and projects with great potential for networking and goal-oriented communication. Artists of all disciplines are invited to bring in their ideas and projects and put them up for discussion. The projects are discussed and jointly developed, possibilities for realisation are examined and, if necessary, made available.
- Art Against Pain offers workshops. This offer is directed on the one hand at the initiators of the projects, and on the other hand, of course, at the people, with whom the projects are realised. For the artists and art therapists who want to initiate a project, the workshops offer a qualified, competent introduction and familiarisation with the methodology or the various, tried and tested methods of therapeutic work with art.
- Art Against Pain attaches great importance to the exchange and networking of project initiators. There are several “round table” formats that are thematically tailored to current needs.
- Art Against Pain invites to lectures. The main focus is on providing qualified information on the topic of “art as a perspective of healing”.
Ethics
- When Art Against Pain addresses people who are or have been exposed to traumatic events, the initiative is committed to a universal ethic that, regardless of religious or political convictions, at its core always follows the hardly questionable maxim that all suffering should be minimised wherever human suffering is encountered.
- Art Against Pain believes that with the help of art, new courage to face life can be awakened, that fresh energies for actively shaping one’s own future flow to the individual, and that this effect is a very desirable one. Art Against Pain thus follows the maxim of promoting happiness, protection and spiritual growth in people.
- Art Against Pain emphasises that it‘s initiative – free of any political, geopolitical, religious or ideological bias – regards human dignity, physical and mental integrity, a life away from war, oppression, persecution, exploitation, hunger and danger to life as fundamental values that should be protected.
- Art Against Pain holds these ethical positions and adheres to these values completely regardless of what distinguishing characteristics may characterise the people who are to participate in the projects, i.e. regardless of their origin, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, faith, worldview or social status.
